Dry Shampoo Review

Here we go.. after a looooong two months of testing dry shampoos its finally time to share my final thoughts on them! I knew this before I started but dry shampoos are NOT created equally lol but this experiment just made me know this even more. I also learned through all of this that you don’t have to spend $20+ on dry shampoo.. you really don’t. Especially if you are anything like me where you use A TON each time you use dry shampoo!

The way that I am writing this post is to the drug store dry shampoos and then also the more expensive dry shampoos. I did try a few like Living Proof and Moroccan Oil just to get an idea and to compare them all! So if you are interested in those, they are at the very bottom!

Drug Store Dry Shampoo Reviews

9. Tresemme Volumizing Dry Shampoo

Another one that smells really good and its from a trusted drug store brand but it wasn’t for me at all. Not as badly as the Herbal Essence, but still pretty badly made my hair feel like it had hairspray in it! I was so bummed! This one is $4.99 and does smell very fresh but in a weird take your breath away fresh scent if that makes ANY sense lol. I just wasn’t a fan!

8. Batiste - Volumizing Dry Shampoo

I absolutely love this brand, its the brand of dry shampoo that I have purchased over and over again. But when I bought all of these dry shampoos initially I hadn’t seen the VOLUMIZING kind yet so I decided to give it a try. It wasn’t for me, much like the Not Your Mothers, gave my hair too much grit when I was just trying to give my hair a refresh. And honestly, I don't feel like it gave my hair anymore volume than it already had. Its at a higher price point for these drug store options at $7.29.

7. Hask Chia Seed Dry Shampoo

This was a new brand to me but the brand was recommended by one of you guys so I decided to give it a try! I bought two different kinds from this brand and the Chia Seed was just kind of meh. I didn’t love it but didn’t hate it. The smell was okay but nothing special. I also had to reapply it later on to give myself a refresh which would suck if I worked in an office. It is affordable - its $4.79! Hint hint - I like the other kind from this brand more!

6. Not Your Mothers Dry Shampoo

I LOVE the smell of this one, I really do! I think if you have thicker hair that can handle a little more grit then this one could be a really good option for you! It didn’t so much hold like a hairspray but it made my hair feel more like I had texture spray in it rather than dry shampoo. I have pretty thin/fine hair and it just wasn’t good for that! If you do have thicker hair, it is affordable- only $4.97! I do know that a ton of people like this option though!

5. Dove Dry Shampoo

I was PLEASANTLY surprised with this product. I really purchased it expecting it to be number 9 or 1 on my list but honestly it was tied for 4th! It smells amazing, doesn't leave a residue and it lasts all day long! Which pretty much checks off all of the boxes of mine when looking for a dry shampoo. Another plus is that is is $4.89. The only downside and what made it 5th and not 4th was that it takes a lot of product, like I used it for 4-5 days and the can is pretty much gone. I maybe have one more use in the can.

Higher Priced Dry Shampoo Reviews

I only tried three of these because they are pricey and honestly I don’t plan to buy them again. I feel like there are enough people out there ranting and raving about these three and I only tried them to have something to sort of compare the others to! I tried the Living Proof Dry Shampoo, Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo and the Pureology Dry shampoo.

3. Pureology Dry Shampoo

I seriously wouldn’t waste your money on this product…. Am I allowed to say that?! Haha I don’t know what I expected but for $28.00 for a regular sized can of dry shampoo I expect it to make my hair all shiny clean and new again. And it really didn’t.. at all. I don’t even think it smelled that great.

2. Moroccan Oil Dry Shampoo

I thought this dry shampoo smells SOO good. It’s $26.00 for a regular sized can and it’s an alright product. It worked well and that is great but still too much for me to buy it again. It made my hair look and feel nice but I just have about 5 more drugstore dry shampoos that I would purchase before this one.

1. Living Proof Dry Shampoo

This truly is a great product and I can see why it is popular. It doesn’t really feel like you have anything in your hair when you use this dry shampoo which is nice! Its $25.00 on Amazon which is nice to have it delivered with free 2 day shipping but other than that I really feel like I would buy the SGX NYC Dry Shampoo and the Batiste Dry Shampoo over this one in a minute! It smells good as well!
