REVIEW of Gluten Free at Epcot Flower and Garden Festival | 2022

REVIEW of Gluten Free at Epcot Flower and Garden Festival | 2022

Last Monday my whole family went to Epcot to eat and drink around the world which honestly if you’ve never done that I would definitely add it to your list of things to do! SO, I know that I was so excited about like 20 different foods in my initial post, I tried like 7 or 8 of them and I wanted to actually review them so that you knew what they tasted like going into the Flower and Garden Festival! Most of them were really good but some of them were not worth it at all. There were also things that I literally could not get myself to try, like the Potato Pancake with Applesauce on top.. I got that last year and it was honestly just disgusting to me. I also feel like the chilled potato and leek soup would b something that would have to be force fed to me because...ew. But anyways, here are my thoughts, feelings and emotions on the foods that we tried!

  1. House-made Italian Sausage and Peppers Poutine - Refreshment Port

    • This was LITERALLY so {nice} I got it TWICE. Like If I could eat it every single day I would. It blew my mind that it was completely plant based, I was so skeptical! But WOW, I would go to Epcot right now just to eat this poutine again! 100/10 would recommend you to get this!

  2. Tupelo Honey and Sweet Corn Spoon Bread with jalapeños, bacon, and house-made whipped honey butter - The Honey Bee-stro Hosted by National Honey Board - Near Port of Entry

    • This was the second year that I got this corn bread so I knew what to expect but it is just so yummy! I am not a big sweets person but this is really good and the jalapeños and bacon break up the sweet and all of the flavors mix together really well. 10/10 recommend to get this if you’re gluten free or not!

  3. Taco Vampiro: Barbacoa beef in a corn tortilla with crispy grilled Monterey jack cheese, salsa ranchera, and esquites - Jardin De Fiestas - Mexico

    • I think this was Dustins favorite thing that he had all day! It was good but there was corn on the side and this taco became a 10/10 when we added the corn to the inside of the taco. But there was like melty crispy cheese on the outside of the corn tortilla that was just freakin.. chefs kiss! So yummy!

  4. Crispy Mojo Marinated Pork Belly, with avocado cream, corn salsa, salsa verde, and plantain chips - The Citrus Blossom - Near Port of Entry

    • This was pretty good but also really needed to be served with like two or three more big chips. They had crumbled like one chip on the top of it but other than that it was pretty good! The pork belly was basically the star of the show! I would get it again but maybe I give it like a 7/10?

  5. Arepas topped with melted queso fresco - La Isla Fresca - Between Morocco and France

    • I was not a fan, and maybe I am not the best judge and this was exactly what it was supposed to taste like but I thought that it needed a sauce or maybe more queso fresco? It was good and I did eat all of it but only after I took some of the guacamole from the other arepa and put it on top of this one.

  6. Grilled Street Corn on the Cob with savory garlic spread - Flavor Full Kitchen hosted by Advent Health - Between Imagination and Refreshment Port

    • This was good! I really like corn on the cob, maybe that is a midwest thing lol! This savory garlic spread was a nice touch though! It was yummy and a plus being that it smelled AMAZING walking up to the booth! Probably the mix of corn and garlic together! I would get it again! I actually think that this was my second year having it now that I think about it…

  7. Arepa topped with shrimp, crushed avocado ají, and tomato sauce - La Isla Fresca - Between Morocco and France

    • This arepa was more flavorful than the queso fresco arepa but I just wasn’t a huge fan of it. I think because I took the avocado from this one and put it on the other one I messed up the flavors of how it was supposed to be. But I also felt like the shrimp that was on this arepa was flavorless and just sort of tossed on there like an afterthought. Dustin liked it more than I did though! He would probably give it like a 5.5/10!

Gluten Free at Epcot's Food and Wine Festival

Taryn Into Travel | Epcot Food and Wine Festival 2020 Gluten-Free Epcot Food Allergies Disney World

So let me start this blog post off by saying that there reallllly weren’t a whole lot of options for us gluten-free people. But this was my first time ever going and it might have been because of the pandemic. I think I tried about 8 food items and then like 4 drinks!

It was nice because everything food-wise was labeled on the menu boards. So I wasn’t having to ask every time I wanted to try something. I appreciate that they added that. They also had things marked for vegetarians I believe! I am going to list the food items in order of my favorite to my least favorite! I will also put which stand they were at next to the food!

  1. Crispy Citrus Chicken with Orange Aïoli and Baby Greens $5.75 {Citrus Blossom}

    • This was amazing and I kept saying to my mom that it tasted so good it felt like it wasn’t GF.. obviously it was but if you’re gluten-free then you know when you are eating something so good it tastes wrong. Lol 10/10 recommend this!

  2. Lobster Tail with Meyer Lemon Emulsion and Grilled Lemon $8.25 {Citrus Blossom}

    • Another really great dish! It was a smaller little snack but it was good nonetheless. It was a delicious lemony lobster bite!

  3. Wild Mushroom Beef Filet Mignon with Truffle-Butter Sauce {Canada}

    • I was really surprised by this one! It was great and was actually a pretty good size for the price! It was served over this really yummy mushroom sauce! The only downside was using a plastic knife. Lol But we were standing at a table anyway so it really wasn’t a big deal.

  4. Chocolate Pudding Terrarium with Avocado Cream, Matcha Crumble, and Baby Herbs {Earth Eats}

    • I was SHOCKED that I liked this. This was the first thing that I tried this day and omg it was good. There were so many intimidating things that it said it had in it but I tried it anyway and I am so glad that I did. The avocado cream pudding situation was so creamy and delicious. The matcha crumbles..who knew that was going to taste good?! NOT ME. But it was so yummy! And then the herbs were just like decretive little flowers that we didn’t eat.

  5. Crispy Pork Belly with Black Beans, Tomato and Onions $6.00 {Brazil}

    • This was just sort of meh. The black beans and the pork belly really didn’t make sense together to me but hey, who am I? Maybe it is and I just don’t know! They tasted good separately but I didn’t eat them together in one bite… now I feel like I missed out on something lol

  6. Brazilian Cheese Bread $4.50 {Brazil}

    • This was okay but nothing special. If you have bought the Brazi bread from the grocery store it pretty much just tasted like that! They were a bit bigger than Brazi bites but still tasted the same.

Now for the drinks…

  1. Bloomin’ Blueberry Lemon and Ginger Tea featuring Twinings of London® with Tito’s Handmade Vodka served in a Mason Jar $15.50 {Earth Eats}

    • This was absolutely delicious. We convinced the people next to us that they needed it and I would love to figure out how to make it at home. It was very tasty and it came in a cute mason jar. Note to self: don’t put the cup in the dishwasher because it will become deformed and you will have to throw it out.

  2. La Vie en Rose Frozen Slushy $11.75 {France}

    • I really liked this! It was a great size and was really yummy! It wasn’t anything crazy special but it was tasty and I would order it for myself again for sure.

  3. Orange Sunshine Wine Slushy $6.75 {Citrus Blossom}

    • It was tasty but it didn’t actually seem like there was any alcohol in it. It kind of tasted like an orange creamsicle! Plus it was VERRRY small.

  4. Byejoe Punch: Chinese Bai Jiu Spirit, Lychee, Coconut and Pineapple Juice $11.00 {China}

    • It was okay. it had a really strong coconut flavor which was nice but then there was a punch of something not so great right after that coconut flavor and I ended up only drinking like half of it!

  5. 3 Daughters Raspberry Lemonade Dry Hard Cider $4.50 {Appleseed Orchard}

    • Puke. Gross. Worst Cider I have ever tried. I’m usually not this dramatic but I literally threw it away after two sips. The second sip was to make sure it was gross and I wanted to throw it away. Lol

Gluten Free at Hollywood Studios

The last stop for my small series of gluten-free options at Disney World Parks is Gluten Free at Hollywood Studios! Now when I started writing this I was realizing that there are a lot of restaurants closed at Hollywood Studios right now. They are undergoing lots of changes and I think restaurants will be changing soon. With that being said, this isn’t a list of all of the restaurants, only the ones I was able to snag a menu from while I visited. I also heard word the other day that there is another restaurant coming to Toy Story Land so I will keep my eyes open for any info on that and if any options are added for us gluten-free folk to enjoy!

The store in Mombasa Marketplace has a whole gluten free section. You can get things like bags of cookies, chocolate protein balls, tortilla chips, seed and fruit mix, snack bars and cranberry mix. They have tons of options that you can buy and then take to eat in line while you have a long wait. In that same store I got a rice krispy treat that was pretty tasty!

If you haven’t read my 10 Tips for Animal Kingdom you can do that here. This has some tips about food but mostly just things I have learned at my time in the parks! I hope you enjoyed this post and you found it helpful on your trip to Animal Kingdom.

Gluten Free at Magic Kingdom

public.jpeg

I mentioned this in my Gluten Free at Epcot blog post but when I found out I was headed to Disney World I knew that I had to do some mega research for gluten free foods at the parks. Eating food was definitely a challenge I was ready to take on! I feel like I totally ate my way through the parks and here is what I found at Magic Kingdom!

Quick Service

Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn

1/3 Angus Bacon Cheeseburger

Chicken Rice Bowl

Pork Carnitas Rice Bowl

Southwest Chicken Salad

Jerk Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Veggie Rice Bowl

Gluten Free Brownie

Pecos Bill is located in Frontierland. I ordered the Bacon Cheeseburger and it was SO dry, it was one of the worst GF buns I have had. It literally crumbled apart in my hands. But the burger patty itself was tasty. If you are going to eat here I would suggest a rice bowl!

Cosmic Rays

1/3 Angus Bacon Cheeseburger

Grilled Chicken Club

Cosmic Rays is located in Tomorrowland. I have never eaten here while gluten free but I wanted to share what was on the gluten free menu!

Columbia Harbour House

Grilled Salmon with French fries and green beans

Chicken nuggets and French fries

Gluten Free brownie

Columbia Harbour House is located in Liberty Square. The chicken nuggets here are one of my absolute favorite nuggets in all of the four parks (trust me, I have tried them all)!

Pinocchio Village Hause

GF Margherita Pizza

GF Cheese Pizza

GF Meat Lovers Pizza

GF Pepperoni Pizza

Antipasto Salad

GF Chicken Nuggets

GF Cookies, Brownies and Chocolate Gelato

Pinocchio Village Haus is located in Fantasyland. I have also had the chicken nuggets from here and they are really good as well! They are different than the ones from Columbia Harbour House but still tasty!

We also ate at Be Our Guest, this is not quick service but I was able to have a French Dip Sandwich, French fries and a lemon curd puffs pastry all gluten free. It was delish and would absolutely recommend making reservations here for lunch during your visit! The service was excellent and the staff were so helpful with my allergy!

As always when I write gluten free posts, please double check with the restaurant to make sure things are still accurate before ordering. I hope you enjoy this post and it makes your trip to Magic Kingdom and Disney World in general easier! If you missed Gluten Free at Epcot, you can read that here!

Gluten Free at Epcot

Before I left for Epcot I was trying to find all the sources I could to know what I was able to eat at Epcot, but honestly I didn’t find too many answers. So when we were there next I wanted to make sure I could find as much info for myself and to share with you guys. Of course I always suggest that you check when you are there just to be sure nothing has changed. There are some countries that I didn’t get food at or ask for the allergy menu but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t ask because they are very eager to help you. The countries I didn’t get to were Norway, Outpost, Morocco ( they did say that they had gluten free options available at Spice Road Table but I would need to talk to a chef, so just ask!), the United Kingdom and Canada.

Mexico

We had lunch at La Cantina de San Angel, my three options on the menu were Tacos de Barbacoa and Tacos de Pollo. I had the Tacos de Barbacoa and it was so so good and I didn’t get suck! To drink I had the Mexican Sangria which I would also recommend!

China

I didn’t eat here but I did ask what the gluten free options were at Nine Dragons Restaurant and they told me that I could have the Vegetarian Stir fry. Again, I didn’t have it but this is what I was told. I also had the cotton candy from The House of Good Fortune! It was pretty tasty!

Germany

I had a gluten free bratwurst from Sommerfest in Germany, the brat itself was delicious but the bun was a bit dry. But usually that’s how it goes when it comes to gluten free options for bread. I just added mustard and sauerkraut and it was alright!

Italy

This is another country that I didn’t eat anything in but I did ask to see their allergy menu at Via Napoli and wow, there were so many options! They had a couple of appetizers and salads as well as pasta dishes like Penne Caprese and Fusilli Napoletana. I added the photo that I took so that you can see the menu for yourself!

America

At the Liberty Inn I ate a cheeseburger with French fries and it was a pretty basic meal but still good! They also had gluten free hot dogs and chicken nuggets. The bun on my burger though was a good gf bun so that is a start! It wasn’t one of the super dry ones that you can find at other restaurants.

www.tarynintotravel.com | Gluten Free at Epcot | Epcot Gluten Free Foods

France

I had a macaroon from Les Halles Boulangerie-Patisserie that was delish and such a fun treat. I talked to one of the chefs and there were two macaroon options that they offered that were gluten free and I got the raspberry macaroon.

Japan

We ate dinner at Teppen Edo and they were so knowledgeable of my allergy and aware of what to do. We ate at the hibachi grill and they made all of my food first and then cooked other food for the rest of the table. I also had my own gluten free soy sauce. 10/10 would recommend eating here!
